Delft Tiles Painting Workshop

Friday 5th May 2017, 23rd June 2017 & 7th July 2017

10am - 1pm | £40

Venue: West Berkshire Museum, Newbury

Delftware, also known as Delft Blue, is the charming variety of blue and white ceramic pottery originating from Delft in the Netherlands, with many of the classic tile designs dating from the 16th century.

Starting with blank, unglazed ceramic tiles, you will learn all the techniques you need to paint four tiles with your own design or pattern in the Delft tradition whilst taking in a brief history of this fascinating craft. You can even take inspiration from the original tiles in-situ at the museum. Designer and owner of Roelofs & Rubens, Piet van den Beuken, will be on hand to offer help and advice with your designs.

The tiles will be taken away to be fired, finished and delivered to your house. Materials and postage are all included.

To book a place on this course please contact West Berkshire Museum T:01635 519562 or email museum@westberks.gov.uk

Ceramic Christmas Decorations Workshop

We run a number of workshops throughout the year and one of our most popular is the Ceramic Christmas Decorations Workshop. You will enjoy a short history of the Christmas Tree and Tree Decorations, followed by painting a set of 4 to 6 decorations.  We have a wide range of hand cut bisque shapes for you to paint using your own design ideas.
